ENTITLEMENT

At General Conference a few weeks back I was struck by the truth of this statement by Quintin L. Cook
"We are entitled to be able to disagree--not to be disagreeable"

I have taken time over the weeks since writing that phrase down to ponder it's truth. I hope you stop to think about it as you interact with those you meet on your days journey.

  1. That is a great quote for me, but when I read it I immediately thought of my children. Why is it that I can see the faults of my children so much more clearly than I can my own... I'm sure Michael and my children would agree that I can certainly be disagreeable:)

  2. Sometimes with those we love we see small details that we wish were better or more clearly defined. With our children we see their potential and we desire for them to achieve the best they can, and it is usually--in a mother's mind anyway, a little better than they are doing. But remembering that they are children is easier when you are the grandma and not the mother asking for the 14th time for them to pick up their shoes.

Keep trying. You are a great mother and wonderful wife. I am proud to call you my daughter--even if it by law and not birth. I am a lucky mother to have you in my family.

    Love, Mom
